The IFCS 2024 Conference will take place at the Rodrigo Facio Campus of the University of Costa Rica (UCR), in the San José area.

Buildings of the Faculty of Engineering will be used, and the nearby Aula Magna and Autonomy Auditorium, all located in Campus #2, also called Research City (Ciudad de la Investigación, Finca 2).

 

UCR information

The University of Costa Rica is the oldest and largest university in Costa Rica, founded in 1940. It has about 43,000 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students all around the country in 12 campuses. More than 6,000 students obtained their degree in 2022.

The institution is organized in 13 faculties, divided in 48 school and 48 research centers and institutes. UCR offers 139 careers in the bachelor’s degree, 110 the license degree, 175 master’s degrees and 12 doctoral programs.

Academic staff is 6,000, a third of which are also researchers.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Costa Rica has two international airports, Juan Santamaria in San José, code SJO, and Daniel Oduber in the northern city of Liberia (code LIR). We suggest travelling through SJO, since it is nearer from the Conference venue.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

Citizens from most countries do not need any visa for entering Costa Rica as tourists, with some exceptions listed in the site visitcostarica.com; see more information here.

Please, consider that entering from some South American countries a yellow vaccination proof may be required.

 

HOTEL INFORMATION

The main hotel for the IFCS is Hotel Aurola San José.

We have some rooms reserved in Hotel Aurola:

• Rooms on behalf of Universidad de Costa Rica university, room rate: US $86.70, reservation code: #343805.
• Rooms on behalf of the guest or his/her university/company, room rate: US $96, reservation code: #343806.

A shuttle will leave from the hotel every morning to the university, with return service in the evening.

And if you reserve with the code #343805, remember that the invoice will be issued only on behalf of Universidad de Costa Rica university.
